Andre Kim emphasized the combination of classical design with futuristic elements in his collections. As a result, his designs used bold and rich colors, and included traditionally Asian patterns like roses, birds or tree branches. Andre Kim was also famous for refusing Michael Jackson’s request to be his personal stylist. Although it would have been a great experience to be the world’s most famous pop star’s stylist, he refused this prestigious offer explaining that his clothes were for “everyone” not “one” individual - no matter how rich or famous.

In the past, if Korean fashion designers focused more on copying Western designs rather than concentrating on Korean traditional designs, now, the trend is focused on combining western and contemporary designs with the traditional. In other words, with the introduction of designer Lie Sang-Bong's 2009 Hangul Collection, designers are coming up with ideas that show the beauty of both Western and Asian designs for example, perserving the texture and the overall image of the Hanbok but at the same time transforming the style to appeal to a global audience. So far, this trend has become quite successful and popular. Especially with shirts, scarves, bags all with Hangul prints have not only been popular in Korea but also internationally.
